濱口竜介監督『悪は存在しない』の公開を記念して、ハワード・ホークス監督『リオ・ブラボー』が4月19日からBunkamuraル・シネマ 渋谷宮下で1週間限定上映される。


ジョン・ウェインを主演に迎え、1959年に公開された『リオ・ブラボー』は濱口監督がフェイバリット映画として挙げている西部劇。メキシコ国境近くの町リオ・ブラボーでならず者ジョーを殺人現行犯で逮捕した保安官チャンスが、片足の不自由な老人スタンピー、アル中の保安官助手デュード、町を通りがかった早射ちの若者コロラドとともに、ジョーの兄でこの町を牛耳るネイザンが金で雇ったガンマンたちに立ち向かうというあらすじだ。


『リオ・ブラボー』をめぐっては、ビクトル・エリセ監督が『瞳をとじて』、エドワード・ヤン監督が『牯嶺街少年殺人事件』でオマージュを捧げているほか、ジャン＝リュック・ゴダール、エリック・ロメール、グレタ・ガーウィグらが影響を公言している。


『悪は存在しない』は4月26日公開。
